Leo Casey is a veteran left and trade union activist. For more than 50 years, he was a member of Democratic Socialists of America and a predecessor organization, serving as one of the full-time national leaders of DSA at its founding. He resigned from DSA in November 2023, in protest of its response to the events of October 7 and of the attacks on DSA elected officials from within its ranks.
