Buy an old couch on Craigslist, get a free $65,000 lost work of art by Andy Warhol.

A woman from New Jersey, the New York Post reports, bought a couch from a seller on the Lower East Side, who threw in a box of assorted items. She later found that it contained a print from Andy Warhol’s “Torsos” series. Although there has been much controversy over the authentication of Warhol’s work in the last decade, this one is genuine, “signed on the back and stamped and numbered by the Warhol Foundation.”

The print shows a man’s naked torso, foregrounding an unusually large penis. The auctioneer describes it thus:

This original silkscreen on canvas reveals the sensual forms of the male pelvis and hips in washes of pink, green, and aqua blue. Marrying a critical interest in sexuality, identity, and the human body with Warhol’s trademark silkscreening technique, “Torso” is a unique emblem from the Pop master’s oeuvre.

It is expected to sell for between $60,000 and $80,000, with the current bid at $65,000.
