The stadium here at American University is packed to capacity, and the press section as well. Rumors from outside suggest even Chris Matthews has been shut out from the hall.
I expect Kennedy and Obama to both touch upon economic issues, perhaps with a particular focus on youth issues such as college affordability and the war. We’ll see. Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg and her cousin Robert Patrick are in attendance alongside Ted. Right off the bat, Kennedy praises his father uncle John for “lowering the voting age to 18!” The college age crowd goes insane.
Caroline Kennedy cites her father’s speech at American in June 1963, on “a world made safe for diversity, a world made safe for America’s future.”
More as Ted speaks next.
