The former first lady died of congestive heart failure, according to the Reagan Foundation. She will be buried at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California, next to her husband, who died in 2004.
She is well known for her “Just Say No” anti-drug campaign, and for holding a strong influence over her husband while he was in office. “I make no apologies for telling him what I thought,” she said her 1989 biography. The two met when they were both Hollywood actors, and married on March 4, 1952.
Reagan also nursed her husband throughout his struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She became an advocate for stem-cell research, in the hopes that it would lead to a cure.
She was the mother of two children, Patti and Ron.
