Planned Parenthood had previously refrained from picking between Democrats, but with attempts to defund the organization dominating the Republican-controlled Congress, the organization decided to throw its weight behind its most prominent Democratic champion. As The New York Times notes, “The Clinton campaign has functioned almost as a marketing arm for Planned Parenthood.”
