After the hated CEO was arrested Thursday morning on securities fraud, the internet cheered. But no one actually cared about Shkreli’s alleged crimes. No, what everyone really wanted to know was: Did this mean the public would finally get to hear the new Wu-Tang album?
As you’ll recall, Shkreli purchased the sole copy of Once Upon a Time in Shaolin for a reported $2 million, and then apparently tossed it into a closet or sock drawer or box of forgotten knick-knacks. “For now, I think I’m going to kind of save it for a rainy day,” he told Bloomberg Businessweek earlier this month, sending Wu-Tang fans into a rage.
Alas, the FBI clarified Thursday afternoon that it did not succeed in rescuing the album:
